This is a fun table decoration and fruit platter, which is ideal themed party food. The watermelon beach party would make a great addition to any summer dinner or party.
Materials
1 watermelon - oblong
Green dry erase marker or sharp pencil
Spoon or ice cream scoop
Small plastic container
Beach themed toys / small plastic dolls
Instructions
- Take your watermelon and cut about 1/4 inch from one side to create a flat base.
- Use the marker pen to draw in the wave design using the image above for guidance. Carefully cut around the line and remove the top section.
- Hollow out both sides of the melon, saving the flesh to use later int he fruit salad.
- Use blue gelatin chilled in a plastic container positioned inside the carving as a pool of water. Fill the carving around the pool with your fruit salad.
- Decorate the carving with beach themed toys such as small balls and plastic people. Cocktail umbrellas look great as do palm tree drink stirrers.
